The Ashtabula County Covered Bridge Festival is held at the Ashtabula County
Fairgrounds on the 2nd full weekend in October from 8:00am to 5:00pm daily. The
Festival includes Official Souvenirs, Crafts, Entertainment, Historic Vehicles
and Engines, a Farmers Market, a Quilt Show, Draft Horses, Contests, a Parade,
and Great Food! THE OFFICE: Located in the basement of the Old Courthouse in
Jefferson, provides souveniers, tour maps and tour group step-on guide service
year round. Office hours are M-F 8-4:30.Attention: Starting January 1st thru
June 1st the festival office will ony be open from 10am to 2pm M-F.

Reconstructed from an original bridge that washed down the river in 1913, it now
sits on property belonging to Ashtabula County Metroparks. Bridge is closed to
motor traffic.

The longest covered bridge in Ohio at 228 feet is the focal point of this park.
A Howe Truss Bridge, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Several canoe liveries provide portage from this area, fishing for bass,
steelhead and other species from the dam and surrounding area is a favorite past
time for locals. Walking trails along the State Designated Scenic Grand River
provide hours of wildlife watching - Great Blue and Green Heron, species of
ducks and other birds have been seen. Several pavilions, playgrounds a fishing
concessions, baseball field, and rustic restrooms are available. Motorcoaches
are not recommended to pass through bridge.

The first fair in Ohio, ground feature an octagon barn, log cabin and once was
home to Camp Giddings a Civil War encampment. The fair is usually held the first
Tues-Sun of August. A family oriented celebration. Rides, entertainment, crafts,
livestock shows, exhibitions, harness racing and much more. Commerical and Expo

December 29, 1876, the Pacific Express, No. 5, bound westward over the Lake
Shore & Michigan Southern railway, plunged into the seventy feet deep
ravine. Approx. 80 people died, making this one of the most deadly train
disasters in US history.

The former New York Central train depot, built in 1900, is the home of the
Conneaut Railroad Museum. Besides rare items, such as an 1866 Stock Certificate
of the Red River Line (NYC) and relics from the Ashtabula Bridge Disaster of
1876 are large displays of lanterns, timetables, passes and old photos. Climb
aboard the steam engine and caboose on exhibit. There are many other items that
were used during the steam era which played a vital role in the building of our
country. Located between Broad and Mill Streets on Depot Street. Hours:
Memorial-Labor Day - Daily noon-5. Free, Donations accepted. Wheelchair

The Conneaut West Breakwater's lighthouse, built in 1936, is located at the end
of a stone breakwall and can be seen from shore. The square base rises to a
slender column and is white with a black band toward the middle. It is still an
active aid to navigation.

Steelhead fishing is excellent in the Grand and Conneaut Rivers between late
October until April, barring the rivers freezing over.
Perch fishing peaks in September-October.
Walleye fishing is great throughout the warmer months of summer - June through
